The original was drawn on an illustration board with prismacolor colored pencils. After almost 4 months of researching, sketching, and creating the piece, the original was coated with an art fixative to protect the work.
"Fish Poker" fatures 8 fish playing poker beneath nearshore pilings. The game is Texas No Limit Hold'Em, and at stake are mulit-colored "clams".
Each fish matches their realistic features, combined with unique elements incorporating their "fishing" nicknames.
*Mullet - Joe Mullet featuring a studly mullet hairdo, acid-washed jean shots (ala Joe Dirt)
*Tarpon - "Silver King"/Crown, robe, & throne
*Bonefish- "Gray Ghost"/Skull and bones tatoo
*Sheepshead - Broken out of jail & Ace up sleeve
*Dolphin/Porpoise - Officer Flipper.
Every element of the piece incorporates things
found in the ocean, or on a poker table!
